Going on holiday: The boards of Europe

Soon the summer, and with them the joys of air and rail transport, the problems of lost luggage, delays or even cancellations. To prepare European citizens to cope with this period, the European Commission relaunch its information campaign "Your right handpassenger."

The campaign, which was launched in June 2010, is reactivated with the approach ofgoing on holiday, a time when millions of European citizens may face some problems during their travels. Objective: To educate passengers to enjoy their rights under EU lawwhen traveling by train or plane to improve the quality of transport in the European Union.

Compensation, reimbursement or compensation

Thus, the site presents various information practices of which the passenger lambdadoes not necessarily knowledge. This example shows that if excessive delays,cancellation or denied boarding, and under certain conditions, the injured passenger is entitled to compensation which may take the form of compensation, refund or of compensation. Another example in case of loss or damage to baggage of a traveler, itis entitled to compensation of up to 1220 euros.

In France, the campaign is relayed mainly on the Web, but also through the distribution of leaflets in the tourist places (airports, hotels, hostels ...) and actions at the airports.
