The record is a computerized national file held in Nantes under the authority of the Ministry of Justice and headed by a magistrate.

This file contains the sentences imposed by courts. This information is provided in the form of extracts called bulletins that include convictions against a person. Bulletin No. 1, which contains all the sentences are issued only to judges. The update 2 which contains no conviction against minors, is delivered to the administration on certain grounds (pass a competitive Civil Service). Bulletin # 3, which contains only the most serious convictions (over 2 years imprisonment) may be asked by your employer at the time of hiring. Only you can ask for it back.

Note: convictions for less serious (less than 2 months of imprisonment) is erased from your record to your majority.

What information does the criminal record?

The record keeps convictions by criminal courts (courts of assizes, courts of appeal, criminal courts, police courts, juvenile courts) handed down for crimes, offenses and more serious offenses. It also retains some of the decisions made by the commercial courts (bankruptcy) or civilian (withdrawal of parental authority). And administrative decisions (expulsion).

Criminal record reports on:

Convictions for felony or misdemeanor
They are contradictory (that is to say, judged by the presence of the accused) in absentia (that is, when the accused is not present, run, etc. .)... They are entered in the criminal even if they are pronounced in the following forms: suspended, accompanied by an exemption, accompanied by an adjournment of sentencing.

Convictions for violation of the fifth class
This is contradictory convictions or default not charged opposition, suspended or accompanied by an exemption or a postponement of sentencing.

Some decisions on juvenile delinquency
Judicial records all the decisions under Articles 8, 15, 15-1, 16, 16a and 28 of Ordinance No. 45-174 of 2 February 1945.

The judgments ordering the withdrawal of parental authority
Or withdrawal of some or all of the rights that are attached to this parental authority.

The expulsion orders issued against foreigners.

Some decisions made by foreign courts.

The information on convictions, decisions, judgments or orders expulsion of persons born abroad
It also contains information on persons whose birth certificate is not found or whose identity is doubtful.

Disciplinary decisions made by the judicial or administrative
Only when these decisions result or enact disabilities.

Judgments declaring the judicial liquidation of an individual is a liquidation bankruptcy and in addition, the prohibition under the law of January 25, 1985 (on the reorganization and liquidation of companies).
