The voluntary interruption of pregnancy (abortion) is allowed in France since the law of January 17, 1975, profoundly changed by the Act of July 4, 2001. Such as contraception, abortion is now considered a real women's rights.

Under what conditions can you have an abortion?

You should know that abortion is allowed until the end of the 12th week of pregnancy (which is about fourteen weeks of missed period). Which can have an abortion?

Also note that, until recently, special conditions apply to foreign women (living in France for at least 3 months and have a residence permit): these conditions were removed, foreign women can now have an abortion under the same conditions as French women.
